WGP STO Ram

I got tired of waiting for Dye to release their new rams, so I went ahead and tried the tried and true WGP Sto Ram.

Installation

This is straightforward. Since I've already typed it out elsewhere, you can go to the Technical->Howto->Change Parts section to learn how to install the ram. I had no problems during installation, with the exception that Worr loctited the pump arm at the factory, which was a small problem since I didn't have access to a vice. However I got by without marring my pump arm, so it all worked out.

Performance

Performance compared to the stock ram was superb, off and on the gun. I am using a Shocktech Supafly bolt, and simply tilting my marker forward and back the bolt will move in and out of the gun. There is very little friction taking place in the ram and the bolt. With my gun gassed up, I have noticed that I am able to lower the pneumatic's operating pressure, although I cannot tell right now by how much, as I don't have access to that testing equipment. I believe efficiency and overall stroke to be improved over the stock configuration.

Looks

While this isn't the prettiest ram (at the time of this writing the new Dye ram has been released and it looks awesome), it's definitely not the ugliest. Mine is andized blue with chrome accents, and it looks bad with my front pneumatics. It's a common part found on many custom autocockers, including (I believe) all P&P Cold Fusion and SuperCockers, as well as the old Dye 'cockers.

Summary

This is an excellent ram for the money. If you are just upgrading for looks, this is a good choice, however it's real benefit is the smooth stroke that accompanies the look. Out of the box it needs nothing, and it's rebuildable, so if it breaks you can tear it down and replace seals instead of buying a new ram. I recommend it to anyone trying to finish up a front end that wants a smooth stroke and efficient gas usage.
